All text emoticons can convey the emotion behind the message. If you are typing these into facebook or msn emoticons, they will automatically convert to an image or icon.
How to enable text emoticons
To enable them, all you have to do is go into your msn messenger settings, and go to 'options' and un-check the box that says 'show emoticons', and even further than that you can also un-check 'show custom emoticons' as well (optional).
Now your MSN conversations will remain plain and simple - the way it used to be back in the earliest days of instant messaging. Some people actually prefer this way, it is the same in e-mail, although some custom icons can be used in e-mails and show up in any mail program if they have certain packets enabled.
